Meet at The Girls’ Coffee Bar, 207 Edmund Street, Marburg at 10:00 am for 10:30 am departure.
Rudd's Pub was built in 1893 and was originally called the "Davenporter" hotel. The name was changed to Rudd's Pub in the 1980's in recognition of the author Steele Rudd.
The hotel itself is quite unique and still retains the character and charm of a hotel from a bygone era. The walls tell a photographic story of days gone by and memorabilia covers the walls and the ceiling.
Steele Rudd (real name Arthur Hoey Davis) lived in Nobby for a period of time and folklore says that he used to sit in front of the fire place in the Heritage room and pen some of his famous "Dad & Dave" stories.
Nobby was also the home of Sister Elizabeth Kenny who pioneered the treatment of infantile paralysis. The hotel has a wall devoted to her wonderful work and she is buried in the Nobby cemetery.
A group of 90 - Members and their guests visited Rudd’s pub in February, 2011 and we plan on following the same route via Gatton and the very scenic Gatton-Clifton road.
We will congregate again at The Girl’s Coffee Bar, 207 Edmund Street, Marburg at 10:00 am for a 10:30 am departure.
Directions to The Girls’ Coffee Bar
Take the Warrego Highway and continue past the Marburg-Rosewood Road Exit until you see the Coffee Bar on the left and then take the next exit several hundred meters further along.
There is plenty of parking, either in the marked spaces or on the grassed area beyond the trees where there is a picnic table.
Early birds may avail themselves of a hearty breakfast, but the coffee alone makes the stop worthwhile.
We will leave “The Girls” about 10:30 am, which will allow any latecomers to join us for the drive to our lunch destination.

On leaving “The Girls”, this time, we will turn right instead of left and then re-join the Warrego Highway in the direction for Toowoomba. After about 28 km, we will take the exit for Gatton/Esk. We will continue through the roundabout onto Eastern Drive/State Route 80 after 4.1 km, we will turn left onto Railway Street (State Route 80). We will pull into Tenthill Creek Road, the first on the left after the Queensland Transport Museum and then take the first right, following which we will pause to allow any who became separated up to that point to regroup.
We will then take the first right and then turn left to rejoin State Route 80. After several km, we turn left on the Gatton Clifton Road (State Route 80), which we will follow for 54 km to the junction with the New England Highway, turning left onto the highway (National Route A3) for about 1 km before turning right to rejoin Gatton Clifton Road. Continue on Gatton Clifton Road which becomes East Street until the rail crossing and then take the first right onto King Street which becomes Felton Clifton Road. Continue straight onto Tooth Street when Felton Clifton Road turns to the left just before Nobby. Continue on Tooth Street to Rudd’s Pub on the left.
